The Last Beergin
Lives of 5 strangers intersect in a convenience store – Hilo a family man running away from his family, RG a man in a crossroad, Tere a tired married woman taking care of an invalid husband, Sandy a spoiled brat with trivial problems, Isaac a young man in love with Sandy but nonexistent to her. Hilo is buying a bottle of gin and beer. Because of Sandy’s hysterics he drops the bottle of gin. RG now holds the last bottle of gin and beer. He accidentally bumped Tere earlier outside the store that allowed a pickpocket to access her valuables. Tere comes after RG inside the convenience store, slaps him back that made him drop the bottle of beer. Hilo blames Sandy for dropping the gin. RG blames Tere . When it was time to check out, they all argued on who should pay for the 2 broken bottles. Hilo needs RG’s gin and RG needs Hilo’s beer to complete the drink mix they both want. Compounded by the fact that they do not have enough money, argument escalates. To settle the issue , they all pitched in including Isaac , who was only there to stalk Sandy. After settling the bill, they all feel entitled to partake in the drink. The 5 strangers who are all avoiding going home easily agree to share. Hilo takes them to his favorite hang-out. As they share the drink, they also share the best “pulutan” - their life stories, deepest secrets, struggles except for RG who refuses to open up. The drinking session becomes cathartic and therapeutic for all. They find relief having released their emotional baggages. The next morning because of what they realized from each other, they are more prepared to go home. Hilo, RG, Tere, Isaac and Sandy are not the same persons who met at the convenience store the day before. Two months after, RG orchestrates a reunion where he reveals his story that no one ever expected.
